Animation ‘Louis Vuitton I’ Winner of Golden Eye
The animation ‘Louis Vuitton I’ by Part of a Bigger Plan and Christian Borstlap won the Golden Eye for Best Dutch Design 2012 during the award ceremony of the Dutch Design Awards, yesterday. The international jury said the following of the winning work: “We praise the multi-layeredness: the message, the execution, the historical value, the story and even a kind of mild self-mockery are all present and in balance. Analogue craftsmanship and digital mastery go hand in hand.” The animation was commissioned by NOWNESS for the Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Louvre, in Paris. The film celebrates the founder of the world’s most recognizable luxury label.
Beware of a Man’s Shadow
Illustrator Tara Dougans’ Buzzing Short Film Celebrates the Debut Men’s Fashion Week in London
An excerpt from the original blog post on Nowness:
Inspired by the Burmese proverb “beware of a man’s shadow and of a bee’s sting,” Canadian-born, London-based illustrator Tara Dougans juxtaposes the graphic beauty of the honey-making insect with a selection of striking menswear designs from the F/W12 season. In anticipation of the first ever London Men’s Fashion Week, which kicks off June 15, Dougans illustrated some of her favorite designs, including Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver’s striped three-piece suit for Lanvin, Riccardo Tisci’s star-emblazoned sweater for Givenchy, Walter Van Beirendonck’s trompe l’oeil prints, and Kim Jones’s travel blanket-inspired bomber jackets for Louis Vuitton.
