SHAPE 2009, third edition
Arnhem, the epicentre of fashion
For a month the centre of Arnhem was literally the core of the third edition of the Arnhem Mode Biënnale. SHAPE was the connecting thread of the greatest cultural fashion event in the world. That year more than 40 fashion labels participated, including Lanvin, Raf Simons, Hussein Chalayan, Jil Sander, Rick Owens, Martin Margiela and Viktor & Rolf. Some 150 garments in Arnhem made it apparent what the aspect of SHAPE signifies and why ‘form’ is so topical in fashion. A high-profile exhibition, satellite presentations, lectures, shows and a magazine provided insight into SHAPE. A wide-ranging cultural scope maked this third biennale intriguing and accessible for everyone.

Net-A Styling

As a stylist Annet Veerbeek, driving force behind Net-A, is constantly surrounded by design ranging from fashion, product to food design. It’s not just her styling skill that’s appreciated, but her accessories, initially designed for own use, as well. This give her the idea to make the infamous ‘stylists own’ accessible and came up with Style & Sell. All accessories are made out of vintage basic materials or remainder of quality fabrics. The same goes for the bag line Tasjeblief. Alle products are available thru Net-A’s webshop and studio.

Saartje Prum: Kids store

Saartje Prum is the success story of the sisters Judith and Marielle who run a, in Holland, well known kids store & webshop. It all started in the basement of one of the sisters with just a few pieces of furniture and toys. And in just a couple of years they had to set up an actual shop, because the Saartje Prum products were taking over the house. Saartje Prum stands out with the store because of the styling and presentation. The team makes bold and bright combinations with Saartje Prum’s own furniture and accessories and designs by other brands.

BL-ij: Paper Gifts
Bibi de Lang is an independent graphic designer with her own label BL-ij (‘happy’ in English).
BL-ij designs postcards, stationary, wrapping paper and more tasteful paper goods. The products are made with love for nostalgia, but have a contemporary look and feel. A traditional, folkloric image is always the base of every design, reduced to a simple outline combined with pastel colors and patterns. It makes them a gift to give and to receive. Creating happy BL-ij moments for everyone!
In 2010 Bibi started a studio & paper shop-in-one where she created a whole BL-ij world filled with paper products that inspires her. Besides her own work, the paper store has the ultimate paper goodies from all over the world. From Japanese masking tape and stationery to notebooks from the Norwegian label Darling Clementine and much more. Every two to three months Bibi invites young designers to style and decorate the shop windows with their work, just as long as the work is made from paper. And if you would like a BL-ij postcard customized for a wedding or a baby card you can have that done in the studio.
